When Life Throws You A Curve Ball

Alyson Swihart

I've been gone for awhile.  Gone from the daily grid of life.  Gone became life has continued to through curve balls in my direction.

It started a year and a half ago with the pandemic, a collective curve ball we all had to face.  The pandemic exposed so much about our mass culture: social injustice, our racial biases, a country divide.

We all limped along.  Trying to do our best. Trying to stand with and for those that needed our help the most... of course keeping six feet distance.

Recently, I was thrown another curve ball that hit me directly in the face.  It knocked me down.  I tried to get up, and grief would knock me down again. So, I stayed down until I felt ok to try to get back up.

It's been 4 months since I was initials hit with that curve ball.  I still get knocked down, but I don't stay down for as long. I believe that not putting pressure on myself to get up initially is what aids me in getting up faster now.

I hope for you that if a curve ball is/was thrown at you, that you take all the time in the world to get back up. Most importantly, I hope you know that you are not alone.

Have a blessed day friends.

xoxo, Al
