Hi there! I’m Alyson, and this is my husband, Eric. We are the co-founders of Handbrewed Soaps! In case you just joined us, I wanted to take a second to tell you a little about us. Handbrewed Soaps started as a response to my husband’s hobby of homebrewing beer. He and his friends would make gallons and gallons of it. Being the hobbyist soap maker I was, I learned how to make soap out of it. I gave a bar or two to his homebrewer friends, and they loved it. They encouraged me to sell it at the Oaktoberfest in Oakland. I did, and the rest is history! We’ve been brewing along for the past 11 years.
Our micro-business has changed throughout the years. We’ve sold beer-flavored lips balms, beer-inspired candles, but our most successful addition has been our Sober Soaps. This line started as a response to our new sober lifestyle. If you want to hear more about that, visit our Sober Journals.
Besides running a soap business, we do other things. Music is kinda HUGE for us. Eric is a music teacher in Oakland Unified School District. I am the co-founder of a music non-profit that serves Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students called Music Is First. We raise three amazing kids (ages 5, 10, and 13); we have a dog and four chickens. We also love hiking. The blessing of this pandemic has been all the amazing Oakland trails we have rediscovered.
So welcome to Handbrewed Soaps. We hope you stay awhile.
