How Often Do You Trust Your Gut?

Hey Friend!

How often do you 'Trust Your Gut?'

Change can be hard.  I know all about it as we change the mission of our little soap company.  What will people think? Will it resonate with them?  What if people don’t like it?  Over this ‘change process,’ I’ve learned to trust this question.  “Does this feel right?”
Martha Beck (my new favorite author) said, “The cognitive brain processes 40 bits of info a second. The entire nervous system (including a cluster of nerves in your heart the size of a cat’s brain) processes 11 million bits of info a second.  The body knows things well ahead of the verbal brain, and it tells the truth.”
This makes sense. Depending on the situation, I’ve noticed tension in my neck, or a sick-to-my-stomach feeling occurs.  I’ve also learned to ignore these signs, rationalizing the symptoms are due to a lumpy pillow or food I ate the previous night. But when I paid attention to my body’s signs, 9 times out of 10, these symptoms occurred because something else wasn’t sitting right with me.  By identifying what really bothered me, I could figure out how to handle these bothersome situations unapologetically.  Interestingly enough, my physical symptoms began to fade. Everything started to feel right.

There is something to be said for “following your gut.”  When you listen to your bodies language, your brain can make better decisions.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this subject.
